Here are a few facts about me:

I was born and
raised in Jenison, Michigan.

I attended
Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, Michigan
-
I went to
Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1984 to 1987
were I studied electrical engineering. This is where I met
my then wife-to-be, Nettie deJong.

I transferred
to the University of Michigan in 1987, and graduated in 1989
with a degree in electrical engineering.
-
I worked for
Motorola from 1989 to 1995 designing communication system
electronics for the government including the F-22 fighter
jet.
-
I have four
children, starting with Kara who was born in 1994, then Luke
in 1996, Johnny in 1998, and finally Nanette in 2000. My children are a great
blessing from God and fill my life with joy and laughter!
All four attend Calvin .

I worked for
Rockwell et. al. as a Business/Marketing Manager from 1995 to
2001. I say "et. al." because the company name changed several
times due to mergers and acquisitions. It actually started
out as Brooktree, then Rockwell, then Conexant and now
finally it is called Mindspeed.

In 2001 God
lead me in a powerful way to go into teaching. He provided
an opportunity for me to teach here at Calvin Christian
which was my first choice.

I went back to
school in 2001 and have since received my Single Subject
Teaching Credential from the State of California.

I teach, or
have taught, the following courses: Computer
Programming, Robotics, Web Site Design, Basic Computer
Skills, Physical Science, Earth Science, Chemistry and
Business Math.
