Coach: John Gregor MacDougall
Email: hopeful_jg@hotmail.com
Coach
MacDougall grew up in several countries,
including the United States, Canada, and
Scotland, finally moving back to the states at
the age of 10 to Lookout Mountain, Georgia
(right across the border from Chattanooga,
Tennessee). He attended Chattanooga Christian
Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, graduating
in 2001, after which he attended Covenant
College atop Lookout Mountain, GA, where his dad
teaches in the Bible department. After
graduating from Covenant College with a B.A. in
philosophy (minors in music and German), he
moved to Washington state for two years to do
construction work and get a sense of what life
is like outside of school before returning back
to the academic world, probably for the rest of
his life. He has been attending Westminster
Seminary in Escondido since 2007, working on two
masters degrees, and hopes to go on for his
Ph.D. afterwards with the goal of someday
teaching philosophy or religion at the
university level. His greatest hope for this
life is to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ
through evangelism and apologetics in
environments where people try to erect
intellectual roadblocks to faith in Christ.
Coach MacDougall ran cross-country and track all
through high school, earning all-state honors in
Tennessee his 10th-12th grade years. He might
have considered running in college, but he
developed a compound series of injuries his
senior year in high school that he is still
trying to deal with today. He loves to run fast
and to encourage kids to do the same, but his
favorite aspect of coaching is the challenge
of bringing the knowledge of Christ and his
gospel to bear on yet another aspect of his own
life and the lives of his athletes.
We welcome John Gregor
MacDougall. He can be reached by email:
