COLLEGE FAIRS/INFORMATION

Remember, if you want to go to a 4-year college/university next year (or if you at least want to keep it open as an option), you should try to complete your applications soon.  (I recommend doing them before Christmas vacation, unless the school’s deadline is earlier, of course.)  WATCH YOUR DEADLINES.

·         California Association of Collectors Scholarship Awards

              $1500-2500 awards

              Requirements: Essay on “Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit

              During Your College Years”

·         Ford Salute to Education Scholarship

200 $1000 scholarships awarded to San Diego county seniors in 16 categories (academic

subject areas and athletics)

Based on: “personal achievements, financial need, personal challenges, academic

accomplishments, contributions to community and school, and overall character”

·         KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program

Criteria: 2.75 GPA; going to a public, in-state (CA) college

Based on: “entrepreneurial drive, strong perseverance, demonstrated financial need”

Awards: $20,000

Deadline: Feb. 10

            For students interested in working for the US National Security Agency

Must work for NSA during summers AND 5+/- years after graduation

Awards: Full tuition (to school of choice) plus salary

Requirements: Demonstrated leadership, minimum 3.0 GPA plus 1600 SAT or 25 ACT
