Grading System
2006-2007
Spanish grades are determined by how students do in the following areas:
1. Quizzes 35%
We have one or two quizzes per week.
2. Tests 40%
We have a test every three to four weeks.
3. Homework 15%
Daily assignments are posted in the classroom, and on the K12 Planet section of the school website. We check these assignments at the beginning of every class, and hand them in. Each assignment is graded. This grade is based only on errors that have not been corrected, or work that is not complete. If an assignment is not completed, and students work on it during the time to be used for correcting, or if they hand it in later on during the class period, or later in the day, the assignment is counted late. Late assignment grades are lowered by two steps. For example:
Grade Late
A C
B D
Late assignments will have the word Tarde written near the grade.
Assignments that are not done receive a grade of 0%.
4. Oral work 10 %
This grade is based on conversation activities that we will work on in class.
5. For class participation, whether written or oral, students receive bravos, or class participation stickers. They may collect these and use them to improve quiz, test, or homework grades.
Late homework grade: 3 bravos
Raise a quiz grade one level (from a B to a B+, for example): 5 bravos
Raise a test grade one level (from a B- to a B, for example): 15 bravos
6. The website at http://www.phschool.com has interactive activities for further practice, as well as listening and pronunciation help. The web codes to access these activities are listed in the Realidades textbook and workbook.
7. I am available before school (7:15 AM or later) or after school (3-4 PM) for students who have questions.
