School Supply List

We are excited for another great school year at Calvin Christian School. Below, please find the list of supplies needed for elementary, junior high and high school. If you have any questions, please call the Elementary Office at 760-489-1159 or the Junior High/High School Office at 760-489-6430. We'll see you back on campus on Wednesday, August 23.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

 
KINDERGARTEN (5-day and 3-day)
Please use a permanent marker to write your child’s name on the following items:
  1. An old short sleeve button shirt (dad’s) for a paint shirt.  No t-shirts please.
  2. A folder with pockets
  3. A backpack large enough to hold lunch container, folders and papers.
  4. HOMEWORK SUPPLIES FOR HOME: Child-sized scissors, box of crayons, glue stick and pencil.
(Crayons, paper, construction paper, pencils, scissors, erasers, etc. are provided by the school.)
 
 
FIRST GRADE (Ms. Medendorp and Mrs. Beutlich)
  1. 4 boxes of 24 count crayons (No glitter crayons please.  They smear when laminated.)
  2. 1 box of 12 assorted CRAYOLA broad line markers (can find at Walmart – need gray and sandy tan)
  3. 1 box of 12 Crayola colored pencils
  4. 1 yellow highlighter
  5. 1 folder with pockets.
  6. 1 large eraser (Pink Pearl brand is the best).
  7. 1 flip top, plastic box – approximately 8" x 5" x 2" - NOT LONGER, PLEASE!
  8. A backpack large enough to hold lunch container, folders and papers (NO rolling backpacks please - we will not have enough space for all of them in the classroom.)
  9. A paint shirt (button front, short sleeve)
  10. 2 – 1.41 oz. UHU color glue stick (rubs on purple, dries clear)
  11. 1 – wide rule spiral bound single subject notebook
  12. 1 – 1” white view binder  
 
SECOND GRADE (Mrs. Eagan)
  1. A box of crayons 
  2. A set of washable markers 
  3. Two dozen pencils (Ticonderoga brand preferred)
  4. 1 box of 12 colored pencils
  5. 2 folders with pockets
  6. 2 glue sticks - Large 
  7. 1 bottle of white glue (no blue gel glue!)
  8. Scissors
  9. Old sock (to be used as an eraser)
  10. 1 – 1” white view binder                                                    
  11. 3 spiral bound notebooks - wide rule single subject
  12. A box to hold supplies - it must fit inside the desk!
  13. A paint shirt (button front, short sleeve)
  14. A box of tissues
  15. A recent photo of the student
 
THIRD GRADE (Ms. Termaat)
  1. A large eraser - good quality rubber eraser
  2. A box of crayons
  3. A set of washable markers
  4. Scissors
  5. A large glue stick
  6. A big box of tissues                                                                                            
  7. 1 spiral notebook
  8. 1 – 1” view binder
  9. Backpack 
 
FOURTH GRADE (Mr. Koelewyn)
  1. 3 folders with pockets
  2. 3 spiral notebooks
  3. 1 – 1” view binder
  4. 1 – 1” binder for music
  5. Markers, crayons, and two dozen pencils - mechanical pencils are ok
  6. Glue stick & scissors
  7. 1 set of ear buds to keep at school to use with a Chromebook
  8. Big erasers - good quality rubber eraser (cute ones smear)
  9. Ruler with both inches and metric                                                                   
  10. Calculator - battery operated preferred
  11. Small personal pencil sharpener - be sure it can store the shavings
  12. 2 plastic pocket folders, each a different color for homework
  13. 3 or 4 black or blue ballpoint pens
 
FIFTH GRADE (Mr. Lapka and Mrs. Lund)                                                                                           
  1. 2 spiral notebooks
  2. 1 – 1” view binder
  3. 1 – 1” binder for music
  4. 3 folders (with pockets)
  5. Scissors
  6. 1 set of earbuds to keep at school to use with Chromebook
  7. 1 dozen pencils and erasers (no mechanical pump pencils)
  8. Small personal pencil sharpener - be sure it can store the shavings
  9. 4 pens - 2 red & 2 black or blue (NO Gel pens or White-out pens!)
  10. Markers and crayons
  11. Calculator
  12. Box of tissues
  13. A box to hold supplies, it must fit inside the desk!

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

  1. 1 - 3-ring binder with dividers for different subjects
  2. 3 hole, college-ruled filler paper
  3. 6 - 2 pocket folders with clasps
  4. 2 sets of earbuds or headsets that connect to standard 3.5 mm audio jack on a Chromebook
  5. 9"x12" spiral art notebook
  6. Ruled 4x6 note cards (50-100 for research papers)
  7. 1/2 inch view binder for Language Arts
  8. Bible (NIV or ESV) to use at home
  9. 1 plastic pouch to hold: 
    - Variety of pens (4 or more different colors)
    - 2 dozen pencils (regular or mechanical)
    - 1 eraser
    - 2 highlighters
    - 24 pack of colored pencils
     
  10. Calculator (Texas Instruments TI-30xIIS) - 7th and 8th grade only

* 8th graders taking Algebra 1 should check High School Math List.

HIGH SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST FOR MATH


Algebra 1, Algebra 1a, Algebra 1b, Geometry
  1. 3-ring binder  -  1 - 1 ½ “ - designated for only this subject (for notes, homework, returned paperwork, homework, tests, quizzes)
  2. 3-hole paper  -  For notes and assignments - college ruled - about 500 sheets for the year
  3. Pencils  -  Dozens!
  4. Erasers  -  in case you make a mistake
  5. Ink pens (not felt markers)  -  red, green, blue, purple, anything but black –  for correcting papers
  6. Straightedge  -  6” or 12” ruler
  7. Protractor
  8. Compass (geometry only)
  9. Calculator  -  scientific or graphics - will not always be allowed to use all capabilities on the more sophisticated models - best to have a simple one to use in those cases
Algebra 2, Pre-calculus and AP Calculus
  1. 3-ring binder  -  Either a separate binder for math or a section designated in a larger binder (for notes, returned homework, worksheets, returned tests and quizzes)
  2. 3-hole paper  -  College ruled - about 500 sheets for the year
  3. Pencils  -  Dozens
  4. Erasers  -  In case you make a mistake

  9. Calculator  -  graphic calculator - any Texas Instrument series 83 or 84 model (TI-83,TI-83 plus, TI-84, TI-84 plus, silver edition...) any graphics calculator with statistics capabilities will do – classroom instruction will be on the TI-84 plus.
