School Supply List

We are excited for another great school year at Calvin Christian School. Below, please find the list of supplies needed for elementary, junior high and high school. If you have any questions, please call the Elementary Office at 760-489-1159 or the Junior High/High School Office at 760-489-6430. We'll see you back on campus on Tuesday, August 13.

Also, don't forget to pre-order hot lunch for your students. You must pre-order lunch for your students, kindergarten through 5th grade. Students in grade 6-12 may purchase lunch or you may pre-order. Read more HERE.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

 
KINDERGARTEN (5-day and 3-day)
Please use a permanent marker to write your child’s name on the following items:
 

An old short sleeve button shirt (dad’s) for a paint shirt.  No t-shirts please.
A folder with pockets
A backpack large enough to hold lunch container, folders and papers.
HOMEWORK SUPPLIES FOR HOME: Child-sized scissors, box of crayons, glue stick and pencil.

(Crayons, paper, construction paper, pencils, scissors, erasers, etc. are provided by the school.)
 
 
FIRST GRADE 

4 boxes of 24 count crayons (No glitter crayons please. They smear when laminated.)
2 folders with pockets.
1 large eraser (Pink Pearl brand is the best).
1 flip top, plastic box – approximately 8" x 5" x 2" - NOT LONGER, PLEASE!
A backpack large enough to hold lunch container, folders and papers (No rolling backpacks please)
A paint shirt (button front, short sleeve)
2 glue sticks – large size
1 – wide rule spiral bound single subject notebook

 
SECOND GRADE

A box of crayons
A set of washable markers
Two dozen pencils (Ticonderoga brand is the best)
1 box of 24 colored pencils
3 laminated folders with pockets
2 glue sticks - Large-size
Scissors – a good pair that actually cuts!
1 – 1” WHITE VIEW binder.
2 spiral bound notebooks - wide rule single subject
A box to hold supplies - it must fit inside the desk!

 
SECOND/THIRD GRADE COMBO

A box of crayons
A set of washable markers
Two dozen pencils (Ticonderoga brand is the best)
1 box of 24 colored pencils
2 folders with pockets
2 glue sticks - Large-size
1 bottle of white glue (no blue gel glue!)
Scissors
Old sock - to be used as a whiteboard eraser
1 – 1” white view binder.
3 spiral bound notebooks - wide rule single subject
A box to hold supplies - it must fit inside the desk!
A box of tissues

THIRD GRADE

FOURTH GRADE

Markers, crayons, and two dozen pencils - mechanical pencils are ok
Glue stick & scissors
1 set of ear buds to keep at school to use with a Chromebook
Big erasers - good quality rubber eraser (cute ones smear)
Ruler with both inches and metric
Calculator - battery operated preferred
Small personal pencil sharpener - be sure it can store the shavings
2 - plastic pocket folders, each a different color for homework
3 or 4 black or blue ballpoint pens

 
FIFTH GRADE                                                                                            

1 spiral notebook
1 – 1” view binder
3 folders (with pockets)
Scissors
1 set of ear buds to keep at school to use with the Chrome book
1 dozen pencils (no mechanical pump pencils)
Small personal pencil sharpener - be sure it can store the shavings
4 pens - 2 red & 2 black or blue (NO Gel pens or White-out pens!)

Calculator
Box of tissues
A box to hold supplies, it must fit inside the desk!

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

1 - 3-ring binder with dividers for different subjects
3 hole, college-ruled filler paper
6 - 2-pocket folders (in binder or separate) 
2 sets of earbuds or headsets that connect to standard 3.5 mm audio jack on a Chromebook
Calculator (Texas Instruments TI-30xIIS) and a ruler - 7th and 8th grade only
9"x12" spiral art notebook
Ruled 3x5 or 4x6 note cards (100 for research papers)
1/2 inch view binder for Language Arts

1 plastic pouch to hold: 
- Variety of pens (4 or more different colors)
- 2 dozen pencils (regular or mechanical)
- 1 eraser
- 2 highlighters
- 24 pack of colored pencils
- 6" or 12" ruler

* 8th graders taking Algebra 1 should check High School Math List.

HIGH SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST FOR MATH


Algebra 1, Algebra 1a, Algebra 1b, Geometry
  1. 3-ring binder  -  1 - 1 ½ “ - designated for only this subject (for notes, homework, returned paperwork, homework, tests, quizzes)
  2. 3-hole paper  -  For notes and assignments - college ruled - about 500 sheets for the year
  3. Pencils  -  Dozens!
  4. Erasers  -  in case you make a mistake
  5. Ink pens (not felt markers)  -  red, green, blue, purple, anything but black –  for correcting papers
  6. Straightedge  -  6” or 12” ruler
  7. Calculator  -  scientific or graphics - will not always be allowed to use all capabilities on the more sophisticated models - best to have a simple one to use in those cases
Algebra 2, Pre-calculus and AP Calculus
  1. 3-ring binder  -  Either a separate binder for math or a section designated in a larger binder (for notes, returned homework, worksheets, returned tests and quizzes)
  2. 3-hole paper  -  College ruled - about 500 sheets for the year
  3. Pencils  -  Dozens
  4. Erasers  -  In case you make a mistake                                                                                                             
  5. Ink pens (not felt markers)  -  red, green, blue, purple, anything but black, for correcting papers
  6. Straightedge
  7. Calculator  -  graphic calculator - any Texas Instrument series 83 or 84 model (TI-83,TI-83 plus, TI-84, TI-84 plus, silver edition...) any graphics calculator with statistics capabilities will do – classroom instruction will be on the TI-84 plus.
