The preschool studied Community Helpers in October and had
several visitors. Captain Cheney, Paramedic/Firefighter Chris
and Engineer Grimm talked about fire safety; stop, drop and
roll, 911 and showed us their gear. The children also were able
to see all of the firetruck including the inside. Captain Cheney
is a good friend to our preschool. Marine LC Chris Egure held an
assembly and showed the children most of his gear. The students
tried to lift his heavy backpack and protective vest and they
even tried bread and carrot cake from his MRE (meals ready to
eat) kit. Miss Jessica tried on his camos and she almost
disappeared! Police Officer Brown shared his equipment, uniform
and spoke about stranger danger, 911 and what to do in an
emergency. He is Brayden's daddy and the children thought that
it was pretty cool that he could be a police officer and a dad!
After speaking with the children inside (and answering tons of
questions), every child got to see and sit in the police car.
His lights were on and we heard the siren. The students were
delighted! |
