Members of Calvin's Christian-in-Action club,
otherwise known as the CIA, organized the
Project Angel Christmas party on December 17, 2008. The goal of Project Angel is to
share the reason we celebrate Christmas by giving a Christmas
party to some of the poorest children from Lincoln Elementary
School, located at 1029 N. Broadway in Escondido (just down the
street from Calvin Christian School).
Students from Calvin Christian High School purchased and wrapped
over 50 gifts for the students from Lincoln. The students
at Lincoln filled out "gift cards" to let the students from
Calvin know what they wanted for Christmas. According to the
guidelines, the gifts should cost around $20 each.
The party, for both the students from Lincoln
and their parents, began with a
skit of the Christmas story performed in Spanish. Christmas
songs were sung, and snacks, drinks and crafts provided. Finally, the gifts
were given.
The hope of the students from Calvin is that
they can help share God's love with the students from Lincoln,
just as God has shared his indescribable love with us all
through the gift of Jesus Christ!
