The Bousema's and Kiledjian's
Warmly Welcome Attendees
Each year supporters of Calvin
Christian School gather to celebrate God’s faithfulness to the
school and to be challenged to keep the vision of Christian
education moving forward. This year Dale Cooper, former chaplain
at Calvin College for 30 years, spoke about the importance of
Christian education.
Amanda Vos, current student at
Calvin, played the piano to entertain those in attendance as
they ate dinner and dessert together. In addition, Jodi and
Megan VanSolkema, 8th and 6th grade students at Calvin, provided
entertainment with their violins. They were accompanied by
pianist Elaine Memmelaar, teacher at Calvin, and by guitarist
Doug Powell.
A special highlight of the evening
was honoring Mr. Koelewyn for his thirty years of outstanding
teaching at Calvin Christian. John Vreeken and Henry Waardenburg,
former students of "Mr. K", lead the entertaining and comical
tribute.
The evening also included an opening
prayer by Rev. Chico Goff, a presentation on the Endowment Fund
by Arnie Veldkamp, a slide show put together by Mark Steenstra,
a group song, How Great Thou Art, led by Pete deJong, and a
closing prayer led by Rev. Steve Overman. All those listed above
are parents of Calvin students!
The masters of ceremony for the
evening were Frank and Katy Steidl. Frank is the High School
principal and Katy, his daughter, is a former Calvin student.
A special thanks to the Fellowship
Committee for organizing this event!
