At
the beginning of each school year all the high school students
go off-campus to play games and grow in their faith as part of
the "mixer".
It's called the "mixer" because students are
randomly put on different teams, and then the teams compete
against each other in games and spirit competitions. Dressing up
outrageously according to team names is part of the mixer
tradition and this year was no exception! Be sure to check out
the photo gallery for a look at some of the crazy outfits! This
year there were 16 teams with names like "America", "Neon",
"Stripe" and "Blue". By the end of the day, team members
definitely knew each other much better!
In addition to playing games, students spent time singing
praise songs and learning about what it means to be a Christian from the speaker,
Jurgen Matthesius. Jurgen gave an entertaining and powerful
message about "making sure Jesus is in your boat", and letting
God use us as He did with Gideon. Groups were given time to talk about how to apply the
message to their lives, and time was also allocated for students
to pray individually.
Each team was asked
to make up a cheer. Click
