In addition to basketball, Liesje played volleyball four years and varsity softball two years. Her sophomore year she was voted Most Valuable Player in basketball and Most Improved Player in volleyball. Liesje made the fall San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team for volleyball. She joins our Calvin “lifer” club; a Crusader since kindergarten. Her favorite thing about Calvin is, “Teachers don’t only teach, they can also be your friends. There are many good Christian role models all around me in the student body and in the faculty.” Liesje carries a 3.5 GPA, and is a National Honor Society member and is on the Calvin Honor Roll. She hopes to attend Calvin College in Grand Rapids and maybe play intramural sports. Liesje has attended Escondido United Reformed Church all her life and enjoys youth group on Wednesday nights and the service project trips to Mexico during the year and in the summer. She volunteers with Escondido Compact, a teen community service organization. In her spare time, Liesje likes shopping with her sister, Annette, and hanging out with friends. “I like taking walks and seeing God’s creation around me.” Liesje would like to share these words with next year’s team, “Work hard both as a team and individually for the honor and glory of God.” Liesje thanks her parents for their support and helping her to do her best and “I’d like to thank God for the strength He’s given me throughout my life so far, and for giving me such a great home and school to go to”.

Her junior and senior year she was in the cast of the school musical and her junior year she served on the Junior-Senior Banquet Committee. Nicole would like to attend Texas Christian University and go out for track and field. She plans on majoring in Fashion Design and Merchandising and someday would like to design her own clothing line. For community service, Nicole is a teaching assistant for Mrs. Huston in 3rd grade science. In her free time, Nicole hangs out with friends and she also likes to draw. “I would like to share with my teammates that if you are willing to put forth the effort, you can do great things.” She would like to thank her teammates for making this last year so much fun and also “I would like to thank my parents for supporting me in everything I do”.

She plans on attending Palomar Community College next fall in the health care field and would like to go into nursing. Danielle loves photography, reading, snowboarding, shopping, hanging out with friends and watching movies. She would like to leave these words of advice for her teammates, “Play with all your heart, soul and mind and always honor God”.
