Intramural
athletics are implemented as a means of
teaching all students the fundamentals of a variety
of different sports. 8th graders serve as
captains of intramural teams throughout the
school year.
Competitive
interscholastic sports teams are
open to 7th and 8th graders. All sports
practice twice weekly after school.
• Flag football, boys/girls
• Volleyball, boys/girls
• Basketball, boys/girls
• Soccer, boys/girls
• Softball, boys/girls
In addition
there is a league-wide cross country
meet in the fall and a track meet
in the spring.
Ontario
Christian hosts weekend tournaments
for girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’
basketball, and boys’ and girls’ soccer.
These teams are open to grades 6-8 and
are selected based on tryouts.
Each year
students are given the chance to test
their physical abilities in the
Mini-Olympics. 8th graders run
this full afternoon event, while 7th
graders lead teams that have
representation from each grade level.
Athletes compete in such events as jump
roping, the mini-marathon, sit-ups,
obstacle course, and broad jump.
T-shirts are awarded to the first place
team, and ribbons are given to the top
five teams. |
