High School Play Auditions: All high school students are invited to try out for a part in the cast.  Students wishing to try out must call the director, Mr. Dirk Jasperse, at (760)-739-0910 to schedule an audition time. To email the director, click here.

Faith Expression Tryouts: Faith Expression is a small choral group of High School students.  Every year they travel to schools and churches to perform.  Faith Expression tryouts will be held during the first week of school.  Details will be available on the first day of school.  To email the director, Ms. Van Essen, click here.

New High School Students' Luncheon: Calvin Christian High School is hosting a Pizza Party for all high school students new to our school as well as their mentor students. New students will be welcomed and have a chance to visit and ask questions.

Back to School Night: This evening is for parents (no children) to come to the school to meet the teachers.  The teachers will explain their classroom policies and share some of their plans for the year.

HS Mixer/Retreat: At the beginning of every year the high school student council plans this event which includes fun activities that encourage high school students to get to know one another better, and provides opportunities for spiritual growth.

HS Testing Day:
Freshmen: NEDT
Sophomores: PLAN
Juniors: PSAT
Seniors: ASVAB

Sports Awards: Watch the Monday Bulletin for announcements concerning the Fall, Winter, and Spring Sports Awards Nights.  Each sports program will host its own evening of awards and recognition.

Christmas Concert (Grades 3-12): This well-attended Christmas program is a very special way to begin your holiday celebrations.  The bands will play the prelude beginning at 6:15 p.m., and the concert will follow at about 7:00 p.m.  Nursery is provided by the Mother's Club.  There is also a Music Boosters' Holiday Bake Sale in the Music Room to raise funds for the music programs at Calvin Christian.

High School Christmas Dinner: The Senior class sponsors this annual Christmas Dinner for the high school students.  The cost for the dinner and the menu will be announced at the high school.  This is a semi-formal event.

High School Exam Week: The exam schedules will be sent home with the students, which will take place late January and early June for the first and second semesters, respectively.  The students will take their exams during the morning hours and will not have class during the afternoon sessions.

Dinner Theatre - Winter Drama Production: Plan to enjoy an evening (or afternoon) of drama produced and performed by the newly formed Advanced Theatre Company (ATC).  Seating is reserved by table with eight guests per table.  Watch the Monday Bulletin for additional information about the play and ticket information.

Homecoming Week: Show your school spirit and come cheer on our teams!  Events will be scheduled for various days of the week, so stay tuned for those announcements.

Career Day: Every other year, Calvin Christian hosts a Career Day for all high school students. On that day, students attend their morning classes as usual, but the afternoon provides them with an opportunity to learn more about choosing a career. Approximately eight members of our community come on campus to tell students about their careers and/or career fields: what you do, how you get there, the skills and education you need, the good and bad sides of these jobs, etc. Students choose three of these career information sessions to attend.

On this same day, Calvin Christian’s juniors and seniors have the opportunity to participate in a Career Shadow. Instead of attending school and Career Day, these students get to go “shadow” someone in a career that interests them. They observe an employee on the job for a day to learn more about what he/she does on the job, what the company or agency does, what education and training is required for that career, and what it takes to be successful in the world of work.

If you have any questions about the Career Day or Career Shadow programs, please contact Brian Duyst at the high school.

Spiritual Emphasis Week: Spiritual Emphasis Week is a special time that we set aside to encourage our high school students to examine their spiritual walk in a more direct way.  We suspend regular afternoon classes for a week to host a variety of speakers and small group discussions/activities.  This is done to challenge the students to grow in the knowledge of what it means to be a Christian and to respond with greater commitment to God in their daily walk.  We also concentrate on service projects, setting aside one day for community service.

SAT Preparation Classes: The purpose for this class is to help our high school students prepare themselves for taking the SAT test.  It is organized and taught by qualified CCHS teachers.  Watch the Monday Bulletin for specific times and fees.

National Honor Society Induction: This ceremony is held at 7:00 p.m. in the library to recognize those students who have been accepted into the CCHS chapter of the National Honor Society.  New inductees are ratified and current members from the Junior and Senior classes are also honored.

Junior/Senior Banquet: This is the major social event at the end of the year for the upperclassmen.  It is planned and paid for by the Junior class in honor of the Seniors.  It is a formal affair held at an off-campus banquet hall.  Please note that the high school is dismissed at 11:30 a.m. that day.

Spring Musical: please see the HS Drama section

High School Fine Arts Awards Night: This award ceremony is held in the library at 7:00 p.m.  Students are parents are invited to acknowledge the accomplishments made in drama/musical, Faith Expression, and the Yearbook.  Watch the Monday Bulletin for additional information.

High School Graduation: The High School Graduation ceremony will be held in the Emmanuel Faith Community Church at 7:00 p.m.  There will also be a reception for those who wish to congratulate the graduates after the ceremony.
