Q.
Does Calvin offer scholarships (tuition
assistance)?
A. Calvin Christian does have tuition assistance
available to a limited number of families.
Tuition assistance is based solely on financial
need (as opposed to academic, athletic, or other
abilities). With a few exceptions, families must
provide at least half of their obligation.
Applications are kept very discreet and require
families to provide financial information.
Contact the Superintendent for further
information or for an application.
See the
Admissions page for more information about
tuition and fees.

Q. What are Calvin’s safety plans?
A. Calvin Christian has adopted an emergency
plan suggested by our parent organization
Christian Schools International. The plan
includes contingencies for nearly every possible
safety and emergency situation. Included in the
plan is a phone tree that enables us to contact
every school family within 30-40 minutes.
Regular consultation with community emergency
agencies occurs and the plan is reviewed each
summer. Fire drills and other emergency practice
procedures are done regularly.

Q.
What is the tuition payment policy?
A. During the
month of August you will receive your tuition
payment coupons. Please look them over and be
sure it is the correct payment plan. If a
correction needs to be made, please contact
Donna Powell at the school (489-4335).
Tuition is due on the first of each month, if
unpaid, it becomes past due on the 5th
of the month. If you are unable to make your
payment in a timely fashion, you must contact
the Finance Office. If we do not receive your
payment or hear from you concerning your
payment, the finance committee will review your
status. If necessary they will notify the board
and consider the possible dismissal of your
child(ren) until the account is made current.
Parents having a child in school during any
portion of a semester will be charged for the
entire quarter. Appeals for exceptional
reasons may be made to the Finance Committee.

Q.
How do we learn about upcoming events or special
needs at Calvin Christian?
A. Each Monday [or Tuesday if Monday is a
holiday] your student should come home with a
copy of the Monday Bulletin. Included in
the Monday Bulletin will be a listing of all of
the activities, sporting events, and meetings
for the week. It will also notify our families
of any special needs within the school
community. The Monday Bulletin is also
available and can be accessed via the "Quick
Link" on our homepage.
Junior High students will also receive a
Junior High Monitor on a weekly basis. It
will list any tests, project due dates and field
trips planned for the JH during that week.
The Junior High Monitor is also available on our
website via the "Quick Links" on our homepage.
We have two different informational items that
will be mailed to your home. The first is our
newsletter called the "Crusader" which is
mailed 3 times a year. Our second item is the
"Cord" which is mailed (quarterly) to all
alumni and those within the school community
(parents, supporters and pastors represented by
our student body).
Our website is also a valuable tool for
keeping up with news, events, and the latest
happenings at Calvin. If you'd like to
subscribe to our "announcements" e-mailing list,
click
here.
We print a School
Directory listing all of our school families.
Also included is a listing of teachers, a school
calendar, class lists, school board members,
Mothers’ Club, Athletic and Music Booster board
members, and room mothers. The Directory is NOT
to be used as a mailing list for other
organizations. Early in August you should
receive a copy of this year's
School
Calendar. Listed will be the scheduled date
for many of the events planned for this school
year. We also have given a brief description for
many of the events. Though we will make every
effort to keep the dates as listed in the
Calendar, we ask that you watch the Monday
Bulletin, Crusader and/or website for any
schedule changes.

due to sickness. If you wish to schedule a
Prearranged Absence, stop in the appropriate

Q. How can we
meet our student's teacher[s] during the
beginning of the school year?
A. We have
scheduled a "Back To School Night"
in the beginning of September. You
are welcome and encouraged to come to school at
that time and meet the teachers. They will
explain the classroom policies and plans to you.
This is not the time to meet with the teachers
to discuss concerns you have about your student
specifically. Please make arrangements with the
individual teacher(s) if you need to discuss a
specific concern. Parent-Teacher
Conferences are scheduled for early November. The first quarter of school will be
completed and this is an opportunity you will
have to review your student's progress with the
teacher. Watch for the conference schedules for
grades K - 5. The Junior High and High School do
not have pre-arranged conferences times.
